CA directs authorities concerned to hold BCS exams on fixed time every year
  Date : 07-09-2025

(BSS) – Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today directed the authorities concerned to hold the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examination at a fixed time every year following annual calendar and ensuring transparency in the process.

The chief adviser gave the directives at a meeting with Public Service Commission (PSC) officials at the State Guest House Jamuna in the city this afternoon.

“Every year, exams and recruitment must be completed on a fixed time according to the calendar. The BCS exam is the ‘entry point.’ Those who pass this exam will run the government. So, if there is any irregularity at the entry point, it will affect the entire system,” he said.

The chief adviser said, “We must resolve the problems and crises that exist responsibly. We all should work together for necessary reforms. This is also necessary for those who will run the government in future.”

During the meeting, PSC Chairman Professor Dr Mobasser Monem spoke about the need for financial and administrative autonomy for the commission.

He said that a five-year roadmap has already been prepared outlining that future examinations and recruitment will be conducted from November to October of the following year.

PSC members said that over the past 15 years, incidents like political interference, irregularities, nepotism, and question leaks took place centering the BCS examination.

They said reforms have been completed to restore trust in PSC and to make sure irregularities never return.

They also noted that the quality of question papers is being improved so that job seekers preparing for BCS exams can also compete in global-level recruitment competitions.

Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration Dr Md Mokhles Ur Rahman, Principal Secretary to the Chief Adviser Sirajuddin Mia and PSC members Md Sujayet Ulya, Md Zahirul Islam Bhuiyan, Prof Dr M Sohel Rahman, Prof Dr Chowdhury Saima Ferdous, Brig Gen (retd) Dr Md Anwarul Islam and Prof Dr Shahnaz Sarker, and Secretary of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission Secretariat Dr Md Sanwar Jahan Bhuiyan were present at the meeting.
