Sylhet DC Sarwar Alam served show-cause notice
  Date : 15-09-2025

A Sylhet court has issued a show-cause notice to Sylhet Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Sarwar Alam.

The order was passed on Thursday (September 11) by the Senior Assistant Judge of the Sadar Court in Sylhet.

As of Sunday evening (September 14), the notice had not yet reached the office of the Deputy Commissioner, confirmed DC Sarwar Alam.

According to court sources, the show-cause notice was issued in connection with a writ petition filed over the termination of two teachers of the English-medium institution, The Sylhet Khajanchibari International School & College (SKISC). The court has directed the Deputy Commissioner to submit a written reply within 15 working days.

The matter was disclosed to the media on Sunday night by Advocate Irshadul Haque, lawyer of senior teacher Abeda Haque of the institution.

Earlier, on Wednesday (September 10), two teachers — Abeda Haque and Md Rukan Uddin — were dismissed through a letter signed by the institution’s governing body president and Deputy Commissioner Sarwar Alam.

The letter stated that senior teachers Abeda Haque and Md Rukan Uddin had, without any appointment letter or promotion from the competent authority, forcibly assumed the role of Vice Principal (in charge) of the institution. They allegedly compelled other teachers to congratulate them, updated the designation on the institution’s official website, and widely disseminated the information through press releases in local Sylhet dailies. According to the letter, these actions were in complete violation of the institution’s service rules and regulations.
