NGO disappears after taking crores of money from customers in Phulpur

Phulpur Correspondent: An NGO named Credit Development Foundation (CDF) in Phulpur, Mymensingh has disappeared after taking crores of money from customers. The matter has created a sensation in the area. In this regard, on Sunday (October 12), the victim Josna Begum (35) of Sahapur village of the municipality filed a complaint with the Phulpur police station.


It is learned that a few days ago, the NGO officials rented the second floor of a flat adjacent to Sahapur Bazar of Phulpur municipality to run the activities of the Credit Development Foundation CDF. Later, they formed associations through their field workers in different areas and started collecting members. They took away 100,500 taka from the members by promising to give loans of 1 lakh taka per member. Several victims said that the NGO officials have taken away more than 1 crore taka from the customers of 10 unions and municipalities of Phulpur upazila.
Harun Or Rashid, a victim of Amua Kanda village in Phulpur Municipality, said, "Aziz, a field worker of the NGO, took 40,000 taka from me after promising to give me a loan of 400,000 taka."
Sohel Mia of Pyari Union said, "Farida, a field worker of the NGO, took 30,000 taka from me after promising to give me a loan of 300,000 taka."


Shafiqul Islam of Char Kazia Kanda village said, "The NGO officials took 5,250 taka from me after promising to give me a loan of 50,000 taka."
