  Date : 04-10-2025

Kamrul Hasan: Manikganj, Oct 4 — A long-standing land dispute turned fatal in Singair upazila of Manikganj, where a man was allegedly killed by his elder brother on Saturday afternoon.

The victim, Hanif (55), son of Ela Bepari of Dhalla Union, was attacked in front of his residence in Athalia village around 3:00 p.m. He worked as a driver for a doctor at Momtaz Eye Hospital and was the father of four children.

Locals and police sources said Hanif had been locked in a land-related feud with his elder brother, Bachchu Bepari, for years. On Saturday morning, during a land measurement, Bachchu, accompanied by his cousin’s sons Swadhin and Jahangir, attacked Hanif with sharp local weapons. Hanif sustained critical injuries and died on the spot.

Singair Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Toufiq Azam confirmed the arrest of elder brother Bachchu Bepari. He added that police are conducting drives to detain the other accused. Preparations are underway to file a case in connection with the incident.
