Sylhet police seize 587 bottles of Indian liquor in early morning raid
  Date : 17-10-2025

Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) seized 587 bottles of Indian liquor during a raid on Thursday morning. The operation, conducted by the Airport Police Station, took place around 5:30 am in front of the Sylhet Club.

A team led by Sub-Inspector Md. Selim Mia set up a checkpoint and signaled a private car and a DI pickup to stop. However, the pickup driver and his assistant abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene, while the occupants of the private car also quickly left.

Upon searching the abandoned pickup, police recovered a large haul of Indian liquor bottles, including brands such as AC Black, Blue, ICE, and McDowell’s. The bottles included a variety of sizes—11 large and 141 small bottles of AC Black, 16 large, 139 medium, and 24 small bottles of Blue, 140 medium and 47 small bottles of ICE, and 69 medium bottles of McDowell’s.

The police confirmed that the identities of those involved in the illegal liquor transport have been identified, and a case has been filed under the Narcotics Control Act, 2018.
