Father, son die from electrocution in Gaibandha

A man and his son died from electrocution while running an irrigation pump in Gaibandha`s Sundarganj on Friday afternoon, October 24.

The deceased were identified as Shahidul Islam, 40, and his son Shihab Mia, 14, residents of West Bashati village in the upazila.

Quoting the victims` relatives, Sorbanondo union parishad chairman Md Zahurul Islam said Shahidul and his son Shihab took a electricity-run irrigation pump on the bank of a pond around 10:00am for irrigation of paddy field.

After an hour, Shahidul`s wife China Begum went there to look for them and found Shihab`s body, Zahurul said, adding that after some time, Shahidul`s body was also discovered on the bank of the pond.

Sundarganj police station`s officer-in-charge Abdul Hakim Azad said they received a report of the deaths of a man and his son from electrocution, and an unnatural death case has been filed in this connection.
