Voting will be held on February 14 in Naohata municipality of Paba upazila of Rajshahi in the fourth phase announced by Bangladesh Election Commission. Candidates have submitted nomination papers on Sunday; the last day for submission of nomination papers from 10 am to 5 pm. Paba Upazila Election Officer Shahidul Islam confirmed the matter. He said four candidates have filed nomination papers for the post of mayor, 18 for reserved women seats and 53 for the post of general councilor in Naohata municipality. A total of 4 candidates have filed nomination papers for the post of mayor of Naohata municipality as independent candidates from different political parties. The candidates are, Awami League nominated Hafizur Rahman Hafiz, BNP nominated current mayor Alhaj Sheikh Mohammad. Maqbool Hossain and independent candidates Awami League rebel Abdul Bari Khan and BNP rebel Mamunur Sarkar Z. Meanwhile, District Juba League President Abu Saleh, General Secretary Ali Azam Sentu, Nauhata Municipal Awami League General Secretary Abdul Mannan, Organizing Secretary Kamrul Hasan, Upazila Juba League General Secretary Tafiqul Islam, Nauhata Municipal Juba League General Secretary Azizul were present during the submission of nomination papers of Awami League nominee Hafizur Rahman Hafiz. Haq etc. On the other hand, Rajshahi Metropolitan BNP General Secretary Advocate Shafiqul Haque Milon, Rajshahi District BNP Member Secretary Prof Bishwanath Sarkar, District BNP Convening Committee Member Golam Mostafa Mamun, Naohata Municipal BNP Member Secretary were present during the nomination papers of BNP nominee Maqbool Hossain.
