Distribution of blankets among the floating ‘Manta’ community in Rangabali

Born in the water, death in the water, even after death, the body is floated in the river. The name of such community is Manta. Winter clothes have been distributed among the most neglected people in the country. At the initiative of Uttaran Foundation established by DIG Habibur Rahman in DhakaRange, Superintendent of Police Mohammad Moinul Hasan distributed blankets to 400 people of more than 100 Manta families living in Buragauranga river of Charmontaj union of Rangabali upazila of Patuakhali on Tuesday noon. Director of Uttaran Foundation KM Mahfizur Rahman, Additional Superintendent of Police Ahmed Ali, Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police Faruk Ahmed, Rangabali Police Station OC Dewan Jaglul Hasan and Charmontaj UP Chairman Hanif Mia were present on the occasion. Shefali Bibi, an old woman who came to get winter clothes, said with joy, ‘Mama lives in the Ganges and in the boat. The fish that I find in the Ganges lives on. No one wants the Mogo direction. I`m having a hard time this winter. The Eyes have given us blankets. We are very happy. I feel a little comfortable in this cold. Aida has a lot on our side. `Rokeya Begum (35), Minara Begum (60), Ismail Sardar (40) and Ansar (55) of this community expressed their excitement in this way. Superintendent of Police Mohammad Moinul Hasan said that the people, who are backward due to lack of education due to superstition and lack of education, remain invisible to all. Uttaran Foundation is working under the direction of DIG Habibur Rahman in Dhaka Ranger to bring them back to the path of light. Now the winter clothes have been distributed in an initial manner. Uttaran Foundation will work to improve the living standard of this community in phases.
