Online Report : The bomb disposal unit of police has defused a bomb left in front of the Signboard traffic police box on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway at Siddhirganj in Narayanganj.
The bomb was defused at around 7:30 pm on Monday.
Narayanganj District Traffic Police Sergeant Asif Hossain saw a bomb-like market bag in front of the traffic police box at 4.30pm and moved away from the police box along with other policemen.
He later reported the matter to senior district police officials. Later, the bomb disposal unit reached the spot at 6.45 pm and started work to defuse the bomb.
Officer-in-Charge of Siddhirganj Police Station Mohammad Mashiur Rahman said that after seeing the bomb-like bag, we surrounded the signboard traffic police box area.
“Bomb disposal unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) later reached the spot and defused it,” he added.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Mehedi Imran Siddique said it was an improvised expolsive device (IED) bomb. The bomb has been successfully defused, he added.
