Moghbazar explosion case handed over to CTTC

Online Report : The case filed over a massive explosion at Moghbazar in the capital was transferred to the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit on Saturday.

The police are yet to arrest or detain anyone over the case.

The CTTC also received all the case documents from Ramna Police Station which had been investigating the case, said the CTTC`s additional deputy commissioner Rahmat Ullah.

"We are yet to have any sign of terrorism or sabotage in the incident, but we would like to have a scientific investigation of the incident," he said.

He said police would analyse evidences, try to find out a pattern and nature of the explosion.

The preliminary investigation suggested that `leaked gas` was the main reason for the explosion that took place in the building, opposite to the Moghbazar branch of Aarong, in the evening of June 26.

At least 11 people so far was killed and several hundred injured in the explosion that has rocked the area wrecking and damaging many vehicles and buildings, business infrastructure.

The police filed a case on Tuesday with the Ramna Police Station over the explosion in a Moghbazar building, mentioning seven entities and an individual as suspects for their `negligence` that led to the explosion.

Inspector General of Police Benazir Ahmed on June 28 said that primarily they were not suspecting the explosion at Moghbazar as a subversive act.

He made the statement while briefing reporters after visiting the spot on in the morning.
