BJP demands apology from Javed Akhtar for statement comparing Taliban and RSS
  Date : 27-04-2024

Mustafa Shaikh, Mumbai: Lyricist and film writer Javed Akhtar and films associated with him and his family may face trouble in coming days. BJP leader Ram Kadam has said the party will not allow Akhtar’s movies to be screened in the country till he apologises for his recent statements comparing the RSS and VHP to the Taliban.

In a recent interview to a news portal, Javed Akhtar said that the Taliban are barbaric, their actions are reprehensible, but those supporting the RSS, VHP and Bajrang Dal are all the same. These comments have not gone down well with the BJP, who said that if the RSS were like the Taliban, he wouldn’t be allowed to make such statements.

“RSS-affiliated politicians are at the helm of affairs in the government. These leaders are running the country following Raj Dharm, if they were like Taliban would Mr Akhtar be allowed to make such a statement. This one analogy proves that his statements are farce. But by making such comments he has hurt the sentiments of RSS workers who work poor people in the country. If he doesn’t apologise to them we will not allow his movies to run in this country,” said BJP MLA and spokesperson Ram Kadam.
