14 November World Diabetes Day: Awareness needed to control diabetes
  Date : 29-03-2024

Dr. Muhammad Mahtab Hossain Mazed: Today is Sunday, World Diabetes Day 2021. The day will be celebrated in Bangladesh like other countries of the world through various programs. November 14 is World Diabetes Day, which has been celebrated worldwide since 1991. In 1991, the World Diabetes Federation and the World Health Organization declared this day as Diabetes Day. Diabetes is affecting the lives of millions of people worldwide in a way that cannot be denied. Obesity, blindness, heart disease and kidney disease have almost doubled in the last decade. There are many complications of diabetes. Reasons to Celebrate World Diabetes Day on November 14: This is the day Frederick Banting was born, who, along with his colleague Charles Belt, discovered the insulin, the antidote for diabetes, in Professor Macoid`s laboratory. Dr. MM Majed, a prominent researcher and founder of Patient Welfare Society of Bangladesh, writes in his column about today`s topicOne person dies of diabetes every 10 seconds in the world. Diabetes is now becoming an epidemic all over the world, including Bangladesh. More than 1 lakh patients are increasing every year. In the next 20 years, this number will reach 12 million, experts said, 57 percent of people in the country do not know that he has diabetes. About one lakh people die of this disease every year. On the other hand, according to the International Diabetic Federation (IDF), there are currently 8.3 million people with diabetes in Bangladesh. And every year millions of people die of diabetes-related complicationsAs the number of diabetic patients is higher in Bangladesh, so is the growth rate of diabetes. In 2019, Bangladesh was in the top 10 countries with the highest number of diabetes. But more frightening is that in 2030 and 2045 Bangladesh will be in the ninth position. The number of diabetics in the world is currently increasing at the highest rate in Bangladesh, India and China.

Aims and objectives are to raise public awareness about the symptoms, treatment and control measures of diabetesAccording to the World Health Organization, the number of diabetics in the world was around 30 million in 1985, and now stands at 370 million. Diabetes patients are increasing all over the world. 1 out of 10 women suffers from diabetes. It is clear from this article that special emphasis has been placed on diabetes in women. According to experienced physicians, as diabetes is on the rise due to urbanization and changing lifestyles, the number of gestational diabetes is also increasing day by day. Studies show that more than half of all women with gestational diabetes develop type 2 diabetes later in life. Even unplanned pregnancies can lead to malnutrition and the risk of developing diabetes is much higher if the child is overweight after reaching adulthood. How diabetes is born: - No one can say exactly how diabetes is a disease. However, the history of diabetes is ancient. Diabetes was first thought to have been discovered in a pyramid in the ancient Egyptian city of Thebes in 1862, with a description of a disease in the bark of the Paripus tree in 1550 BCDiabetes was conceived in the Unani medical method, invented by Hippocrates, the father of medical science in ancient Greece. I want energy to do this job smoothly. The biggest supplier of energy is carbohydrates. These include rice, pulses, potatoes, vegetables, wheat, corn, etc. At the end of the complex reaction, these become simple molecules that can be absorbed into the cells of our body. These simple molecules are glucose. Glucose molecules are absorbed by the cells of the body and produce energy through chemical reactions. This energy keeps the body moving. But it takes a hormone for glucose to enter the cell. Its name is Insulin. In our body cells there is a channel through which glucose enters the body. Normally the channel is closed. We can compare the whole thing as follows. Suppose a cell in a room is a body cell. And the door of the house is the channel of insulin entry. The glucose channel is usually locked, just as we lock the door for safety. Just as it takes a key to open a lock, it takes a key to open a glucose channel. This key is called insulin. Without insulin, glucose cannot enter the cell. As a result, energy will not be produced in the cell. And if the cell does not get energy, it will not be able to do its job properly. But there is an endless supply of glucose in the blood. But the cells have to be starved. As blood glucose levels rise, so does the time and concentration of urineThis overall condition is known as diabetes mellitus or diabetes for short. Diabetes is another name for frequent urination. There is another disease of almost the same type called diabetes incipidus, where the patient urinates frequently. But the disease we all know around us is called diabetes mellitus.) Normal healthy human blood contains 5.6 to 6.1 ml of glucose per liter when starved. It increases two hours after taking food.* Types:We go back to the previous example. Suppose your house is locked. Now think, under what circumstances can you not enter the house? First, if you do not have the key. And secondly, if the lock does not work despite having the key. There may be some other reasons for diabetes. Of particular importance is maternal diabetes. It is called in English. Pregnant women need more insulin than they normally need. Because insulin is involved in many other functions in the human body. Now if the mother`s body is unable to produce enough insulin, then the body will naturally increase glucose. Some hormones from the placenta in pregnant women Is secreted which is responsible for maternal diabetes. These women do not have diabetes after childbirth. In addition, diabetes can be due to genetic reasons. People with autism or Kleinfelter syndrome are more likely to develop diabetes. As well as pancreatic problems can lead to diabetes; For example, if you have pancreatic cancer or infection, you may have diabetes. Hormonal problems can also cause diabetes. Cushing`s syndrome or acromegaly, which is caused by hormones secreted by the thyroid gland, has an effect on diabetes. Some medications can also cause diabetes. Drugs such as glucocorticoids, thiazides or phenytoin, for example, may play a role in causing diabetes. Infection with cyto-megalo-virus, congenital rubella virus, or coxsackie virus affects diabetes. Symptoms of diabetes:The problem that most diabetics suffer from is frequent urination. As a result, the body loses fluid and gets more and more thirsty for water. On the other hand, people with diabetes develop a `cellular starvation` condition. As a result, the body sends a message to the brain that it is hungry. That`s why patients with diabetes are always hungry. They lose weight despite eating a lot. Surrounded by fatigue all the time. If a wound is made somewhere, it does not want to heal easily. Increased attacks of various skin diseases. People with diabetes gradually lose their sexual ability.

* Suggestions: -Weight is very important for diabetics. If you are overweight, it must be reduced through diet and exercise. Sugar and sweets should be excluded. Fiber should be added to the diet. Adhering to a diet is best. If a person continues to take insulin or other medications regularly, then food should be taken regularly. Because if you skip a meal, the reaction can be fatalIt is possible to control diabetes by living a proper and systematic life. Diabetes is on the rise. Therefore, it is absolutely necessary to spread awareness among all. Because only awareness can keep us away from this horror.* Homeopathic remedies: The patient is treated, not the diseaseFor this, it is possible to give homeopathic treatment to the experienced homeopaths by selecting the complete symptoms of the patient and giving the last treatment to the metal. Ebroma August,Cephalanda indica, Ceszyme, Acid Fos, Arsenic Bromide, Acid Lactic, Uranium Knight, Knox Introduction, Acid Acetic, Calcarea Fos and many more are the medicines that are initially selected by the experienced physicians. Disease if medicine is used on its ownCan reach more complex shapes.
