Bangladesh records 20 new dengue cases in 24-hour

Hospitals in Bangladesh have recorded 20 new cases of dengue fever in 24 hours till 8 am today (February 8), said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The death toll remained unchanged with no fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in the 24-hour count to Wednesday morning, said the DGHS release.

In the 24 hours, nine dengue patients were admitted in Dhaka while 11 dengue patients were admitted outside the capital, it added.

Besides, this year, a total of 16 patients died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh till today.

A total of 1,199 were infected by the Dengue virus this year.

Of them, 408 were in Dhaka and 791 were outside the capital, according to the DGHS press release.

As many as 1,071 Dengue patients recovered this year. Of them, 351 were released from hospitals in Dhaka while 720 others left hospitals outside the capital.

According to DGHS, 47 patients are now undergoing treatment in different hospitals in Dhaka while 65 patients are being treated in hospitals outside Dhaka.

Last year, a total of 1,705 died from the mosquito-borne viral disease in Bangladesh. However, 3, 21, 179 patients were admitted in hospital.
