Ensuring sustainable forest management is given utmost importance

Abu sayem, Cox`s bazar: Retired Conservator of Forests (CF), Forestry Consultant (EMCRP) Dr. Sunil Kumar Kundu said, `Ensuring sustainable forest management and conservation of forest environment is being given utmost importance. Everyone should come forward to protect forest resources. As much forest as we have, we have to protect that forest land. In this case, along with the forest department, the local community should come forward.

He said this in the speech of the chief guest at the `Establishment of Forest Nursery and Sustainable Forestry Management and Awareness Raising Training Workshop of Local People` at Chainda Bonbit area of ??Cox`s Bazar range yesterday.
Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of Cox`s Bazar South Forest Division. Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) Shyamal Kumar Ghosh, Ramur Mithachari Union Chairman Khodesta Begum Reena and others were present as special guests in the workshop held under the chairmanship of Sarwoar Alam and moderated by Cox`s Bazar Sadar Range Officer Somir Ranjan Saha. Apart from this, dignitaries including local beneficiaries were present in the meeting.
Md. Sarwoar Alam, Divisional Forest Officer of Cox`s Bazar South Forest Division, said that 318 hectares were afforested in Teknaf, Ukhia, Ramu and Sadar upazilas of Cox`s Bazar under the Rohingya crisis response project in several sectors. Training workshops are organized for the beneficiaries under this scheme.
