No makeshift cattle market at Aftabnagar: HC
  Date : 20-05-2024

Online Report : The High Court (HC) has suspended the lease notification for setting up makeshift cattle market in Dhaka`s Aftabnagar ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.

Now, no cattle market to be set up in Aftabnagar, lawyers said after the HC order on Wednesday.

An HC bench of Justice Naima Haider and Justice Kazi Zinat Haque passed the order with a rule after holding hearing on a writ filed earlier over the issue.

The court also issued a ruling asking the authorities concerned why setting up cattle market in Aftabnagar residential area should not be declared illegal.

Senior Adv Shah Manzurul Haque and Adv SM Shamim Hossain were presenting the writ petitioner, while deputy attorney general Amit Dasgupta represented the state.

On April 4, Chief Property Officer of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), published a lease advertisement to set up cattle market ahead of Eid-ul-Azha- 2024. Later, a writ was filed challenging the advertisement.
