Dhaka`s rail link with northern regions restored after 5hrs

Online Report : The train services of Dhaka with the northern districts were restored after removing the derailed carriages of `Burimari Express` from the rail tracks that derailed at Muladuli Railway Station in Pabna`s Ishwardi upazila early Thursday.

Pakshey Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Shah Sufi Nur Mohammad said, "A rescue train reached the spot around 7am and rescued the derailed carriages from the rail tracks at 8:10am.

After that, the train communication resumed around 8:30am.

Around 3am, Dhaka-bound train of Burimari Express derailed at Muladuli Railway Station in Pabna`s Ishwardi upazila. Following the derailment, the rail communication of Dhaka with the northern parts was halted.

A two-member probe committee, led by Pakshey Divisional Railway Transportation Officer Md Anwar Hossain, has been formed. The committee will submit its report within three working days, Pakshey DRM Shah Sufi said.

Western region divisional railway manager said that the derailment might have occurred due to mechanical problem.


According to the railway sources, train schedule of seven intercity trains Padma Express, Lalmoni Express, Panchagarh Express, Chitra Express, Nil Sagar Express, Ekata Express and Rangpur Express were delayed since the derailment.
