BNP harmed Bangladesh by hostility with India: Quader
  Date : 20-06-2024

Staff Reporter : Awami League (AL) General Secretary Obaidul Quader has said the BNP harmed Bangladesh by animosity with neighboring India.

He said, "BNP harmed Bangladesh by making a hostile relationship with India. We (AL) don`t want hostility rather we want a friendly, balanced, and respectful mutual diplomacy."

"We made a comprehensive partnership with India for the sake of Bangladesh," he said, adding, "We won`t build a relationship with anyone by bargaining away the national interest."

Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, made the remarks in a meeting at AL`s central party office at Bangabandhu Avenue in Dhaka on Thursday.

He said the country`s relationship with India was hostile during Ziaur Rahman, Hussain Muhammad Ershad, and Khaleda Zia regimes and Khaleda Zia did the most damage to Bangladesh by antagonism with India.

The AL general secretary also claimed that the Indian parliament unanimously decided to resolve the border crisis between the two countries and the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi took the initiative regarding this.
