Short-distance train services resume
  Date : 08-02-2025

After a 18-day closure, movement of short-distance trains resumed on Thursday (August 1).

Centering the Quota Reform Movement, the operation of passenger and goods-laden trains was suspended on July 18.

The commuter and local train services from several big cities, including Dhaka, Chattogram, Rajshahi and Khulna, to neighbouring short-distance areas resumed on Thursday.

On Thursday (August 1) morning, the Dewanganj commuter train left for Jamalpur at 7am and the Turag left for Joydebpur at 7:20am.

But the number of passengers on the trains was comparatively low, said Kamalapur Railway Station Master Md Anwar Hossain.

According to Bangladesh Railway`s decision, short distance trains will run while the curfew is relaxed.
As many as 12 local trains will run in the railway’s western region’s Khulna-Ishwardi, Rajbari-Rahanpur, Khulna-Benapole, Benapole-Mongla, Rajbari-Bhanga and Rajbari-Bhatiapara routes on Thursday.
