Boat capsizes in Padma; 4 bodies recovered after 48 hours

The bodies of four people, who went missing after a boat capsized in the Padma River near Char Majardia at Paba upazila in Rajshahi district, have been recovered by locals.

The bodies surfaced last night (2 September) and were found in the Padma river near Char Khanpur.


Humayon Kabir, local UP member, confirmed the recovery.

"At around 10pm last night, locals recovered the bodies of Mohammad Ali and Raju from the Char Khanpur area. Later, around 2am, the bodies of Sabuj and Faruk were also retrieved from the same area," he added.

Fire Service personnel conducted a search operation on Monday morning, but they failed to find any of the missing individuals. Later, locals started to search operation with their boat and recovered the bodies, he also added.

The funeral prayers were held in the morning, and the bodies were buried by theis respective family members, said Md Shahrier, sub-inspector of Rajshahi Metropolitan River Police,

No case has not been filed in this regard, the police official added.
