Dilip, Dolan face Tk5,000cr defamation case
  Date : 03-04-2025

A defamation lawsuit of Tk5,000 crore has been filed against expelled BAJUS members Enamul Haque Khan Dolon and Dilip Kumar Agarwala for spreading false information.

Ruhul Amin Russel, an advisor to the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS), filed the defamation lawsuit with the court on Wednesday.

Advocate Chowdhury Galib Rakib confirmed the matter to the journalists in the afternoon.

He said that following the filing of the lawsuit, the court ordered the defendants to appear before it.

According to the case statement, Enamul Khan Dolon and Dilip Kumar Agarwal were conducting illegal campaigns outside, claiming that the current committee of the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) was illegitimate. Additionally, they repeatedly pressured the committee to negotiate with the government to reduce the VAT imposed on gold traders.

However, the current committee has been working to ensure that the government receives the VAT it has set. As a result, Dolon and Dilip became angry and began spreading malicious rumours against the current committee, sometimes through leaflets or by using various media outlets.

Advocate Chowdhury Galib Rakib stated that due to the continuous defamation, a defamation lawsuit of Tk 5,000 crore was filed against Enamul Khan Dolon and Dilip Kumar Agarwal today.

The court has ordered the accused to appear before the court following the filing of the case.
