Lightning strike kills 3 in Kishoreganj

Three individuals died after being struck by thunderbolts in Kishoreganj`s Ashtagram and Tarail upazilas on Wednesday.

In Ashtagram upazila, around 7.30 AM on Wednesday, a teen named Jahangir Alam, 17, son of Arjud Ali and a resident of Ararpar village under Sadar union, was struck by a streak of lightning while he was fishing in a haor at Kastul union. He was rescued and taken to Ashtagram Upazila Health Complex where the physicians declared him dead.

Kastul Union Parishad chairman Saiful Haque confirmed the death.

Meanwhile, two other fishermen have suffered the same fate while they were fishing at a local beel in Damiha union of Tarail upazila. They both were rescued and succumbed to the injuries on the way to Tarail Upazila Health Complex.

The deceased were Liton, son of Abdul Jabbar from Kajla Madhyapara village, and Enayet Ulla, 20, son of Bakul Mia from the same village.

Tarail Police Station officer-in-charge Md Mansur Ali Arif confirmed the death.
