Joty named in Women`s T20 WC Team of the Tournament

Players from seven teams have been selected for the ICC Women`s T20 World Cup 2024 Team of the Tournament, with Bangladesh`s Nigar Sultana Joty earning the wicketkeeper spot.

Joty, Bangladesh`s captain, played a crucial role in her team`s historic victory over Scotland, their first ICC Women’s T20 World Cup win in a decade. She also impressed with the bat, scoring 39 against the West Indies and 32 not out against South Africa.

Champions New Zealand and runners-up South Africa are strongly represented, with standout performances from Amelia Kerr, who claimed both Player of the Match in the final and Player of the Tournament for her 15 wickets and 135 runs. South African openers Laura Wolvaardt, the team’s captain, and Tazmin Brits were also among the top run-scorers of the tournament.

England’s Danni Wyatt-Hodge, India’s Harmanpreet Kaur, and West Indies’ Deandra Dottin added further firepower to the team, while Megan Schutt of Australia became the highest wicket-taker in ICC Women’s T20 World Cup history, solidifying her place in the squad.

The team reflects the incredible talent displayed throughout the competition, featuring key players from Bangladesh, India, England, New Zealand, South Africa, Australia, and the West Indies.
