3 killed in Naogaon road crash

Three people were killed after being run over by a truck at Manda upazila Naogaon district on Tuesday.

The accident occurred at around 4:30 PM on Tuesday near Bankapur area on the Deluabad-Choubari Hat regional road.

The victims were identified as Shakil Hossain, son of Mazed Ali from Fajilpur village in Mahadebpur, Zahidul Islam, son of late Abdul Latif from Kalushahar village and Noor Alam from Satihat village in Manda.

According to locals and police sources, Shakil Hossain, a painter by profession, and his companions were returning home riding on a motorcycle after finishing work. On the way, they collided head-on with a speeding truck.

Shakil was thrown off the motorcycle and run over by the truck, leading to his death on the spot. His companions, who were seriously injured, were taken to the hospital by locals, but they succumbed to their injuries on the way.

Manda Police Station officer-in-charge Monsur Rahman confirmed the incident, adding that the bodies were recovered from the scene and the truck involved in the accident has been detained.

Legal action will be taken in this regard, added the OC.
