BGMEA election underway to elect new leadership

Desk Report: Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association`s (BGMEA) biennial elections for the term of 2025-27 began today at the selected two centres.

Casting of the vote started at 8:00am and will continue until 5:00pm without a break. According to BGMEA officials, voting is taking place at the two polling centres in Dhaka and Chattogram simultaneously.
In Dhaka, the election is being held at the Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel where 1,561 voters will cast their ballots to elect office bearers for the 2025-27 tenure.
Besides, 303 voters will cast their votes in Chattogram centre to elect their preferred candidates.
Two panels Sammilita Parishad and Forum are contesting for the 35 posts of BGMEA Board of Directors this year.
Mentionable, Md Abul Kalam, MD and chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Chaity Group, is heading the Sammilita Parishad panel while Mahmud Hasan Khan Babu, managing director (MD) of Rising Group, is leading the Forum panel.

Meanwhile, Rashedur Rahman Chanchal one of the Popular Candidate from Sammilita Parishad panel said, voters should choose the Shommilito Parishad Panel because it represents experienced, committed, and forward-thinking leaders who understand the real challenges of our industry. Our panel prioritizes workers` welfare, sustainable growth, strong international relations, and transparent governance. We are not just promising change—we have the capability and track record to deliver it. Up to now, what developments have done in BGMEA, almost 99% done by Sommiloto Parishad. In members of BGMEA there is a great love and affection and sympathy for Sommilito Parishad due to its service to them.
