Following a day of protests and ultimatums, United International University (UIU) has conditionally revoked the permanent expulsion of some students.
The decision was made during an emergency meeting of the university`s disciplinary committee on Saturday, June 21.
According to a notice signed by the university`s registrar, Dr Md Zulfiqar Rahman, the disciplinary committee reviewed the appeals of the expelled students.
The committee decided to replace the permanent expulsion orders with a `suspended expulsion` (conditional expulsion) penalty.
The notice stated that the affected students are now permitted to resume classes starting from the Spring 2025 semester.
However, it emphasized that any future violation of the university’s code of conduct will result in the reinstatement of the permanent expulsion.
Additionally, some students have been barred from attending classes for up to two semesters (Spring 2025 and Summer 2025).
These students will be eligible to return for the Fall 2025 semester, but their suspended expulsion status will remain in effect.
