  Date : 21-07-2025

Special Correspondent: Sakhawat Hossain (Sharif), a distinguished son of Chandpur and a businessman, has been honored with the Bangladesh Remitters Honor 2025 in Singapore.

The award was presented to him on Sunday, July 20, at a grand ceremony held in the Z Ballroom of the Novotel Hotel in Singapore, by the Governor of Bangladesh Bank, Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur.

The event was organized collectively by all exchange houses in Singapore through Bangladesh Bank. He was nominated by Prime Exchange House, an international remittance company of Prime Bank Limited.

Sakhawat Hossain (Sharif) currently serves as the Country Manager of Shahjalal Brand under Commodity Connect Private Limited, a Singapore-based company.

In his keynote speech, the Governor of Bangladesh Bank emphasized the contributions of expatriates and said, “Sending remittance through legal channels is crucial for the country’s economy. The government has introduced various facilities to support this.”

The event was attended by Prime Bank’s CEO Mohammad Samiullah, Syed Abu Naser Bakhtiar, Dr. Nazrul Islam, and Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Singapore, Gurmeet Singh, Chairman of Thakral Group, as well as expatriate Bangladeshi businessmen, banking officials, and representatives from various government sectors.

Notably, this is the first time that Sakhawat Hossain (Sharif) has been recognized as a top remittance contributor. Stakeholders believe that this achievement serves as an inspiration not only for Chandpur but also for expatriate entrepreneurs across the nation.
