Polls environment 100% favorable, no uncertainty: EC Anwarul
  Date : 07-09-2025

Election Commissioner Anwarul Islam has said that the environment for the upcoming national parliamentary elections is, so far, one hundred percent favorable across the country.

He made the remarks while responding to a question from journalists in the capital on Sunday (September 7) afternoon.

Anwarul Islam said there is no uncertainty regarding the polls. “The Commission has not received any information about an adverse situation concerning the election. We have published the gazette on constituencies with the highest level of caution, neutrality, and logical consideration,” he added.

He further explained that the average and total number of voters at the district level had been determined based on the size of the electorate. In some areas, population was given priority, while in others geographical integrity or administrative factors were considered. However, he noted that uniformity could not be ensured everywhere.

When asked whether the election would be held, the commissioner replied, “Many people ask me this question. The election will be held—that is why we have announced the roadmap.”

On the issue of political party registration, Anwarul Islam said almost all reports are now in the Commission’s hands. A final decision may come within a week. However, at the final stage of the registration process, parties will have the opportunity to raise objections regarding names.

Regarding confusion over the Constitution and existing laws, the commissioner said the proposed amendment to the RPO would be finalised only after vetting by the ministry. If there is any conflict with other laws, it will be harmonised.
