  Date : 01-12-2025

(BSS) – Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has expressed deep condolences to Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake following the tragic loss of lives and widespread devastation caused by ‘Cyclone Ditwah’, one of the worst weather-related disasters to hit the island nation in recent years.

“I am deeply saddened to learn of the tragic loss of lives and the widespread devastation caused by Cyclone Ditwah, which has brought one of the worst weather-related disasters Sri Lanka has faced in recent years,” he wrote to the Sri Lankan President in a message on Friday.

Chief Adviser’s Press Wing released the message today.

In the message, the Chief Adviser said, “On behalf of the people and the Government of Bangladesh and on my own behalf, I extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved families, and the people of Sri Lanka. Our thoughts and prayers are with those who have lost their loved ones and with all those impacted by this tragic disaster. We wish all the injured a speedy recovery”.

At this difficult time, the people of Bangladesh stand in solidarity with the friendly people of Sri Lanka, Prof Yunus said, adding, “We also remain ready to extend any possible support or assistance that may be required, including cooperation in flood management, search and rescue operations, medical assistance, and other humanitarian needs”.

“Please accept, Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration,” the Chief Adviser said.
