Kamrul Hasan: The country’s top-tier football competition, the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), will kick off on September 26 (Friday). Organized by the Bangladesh Football Federation, this season’s league will be played simultaneously across five venues in five districts.

On the opening day, two matches will take place — Dhaka Abahani Limited will face Rahmatganj MFS at the Bir Shreshtha Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj, while Fakirerpool Young Men’s Club will take on Arambagh KS at the Shaheed Miraz-Tapan Stadium in Manikganj.

The first phase of the BPL will run from September 26 until January 3 of next year, featuring a total of 45 matches. Among them, 10 matches each will be played in Manikganj and Munshiganj, 8 each in Gazipur and Cumilla, and 9 at the Bashundhara Kings Arena in Dhaka.

A total of 10 matches will be staged at the Shaheed Miraz-Tapan Stadium, including—

September 26: Fakirerpool Young Men’s Club vs. Arambagh KS

December 13: Fakirerpool Young Men’s Club vs. Dhaka Abahani Limited

January 3: Fakirerpool Young Men’s Club vs. Bashundhara Kings

Matches at the Munshiganj Venue:

Apart from the opening match, Munshiganj will host 9 more games up to January 2. Highlights include—

December 5: Brothers Union vs. Bashundhara Kings

Dhaka (Bashundhara Kings Arena): September 27 – Mohammedan SC vs. Fortis FC; December 27 – Abahani vs. Bashundhara Kings; January 3 – Fortis FC vs. PWD SC.
