  5.4-magnitude quake jolts Assam, neighbouring countries include Bangladesh

 

An earthquake of 5.4 magnitude on the Richter scale struck India`s Assam early Monday.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the epicentre of the earthquake was in the Dhing area of Assam, India, and it originated at a depth of 35 kilometres.

The earthquake occurred at 4:47AM Bangladesh time, the USGS said.
