New Horizon in Digital Land Services: Three-Day ‘Land Service Fair-2026’ Inaugurated in Manikganj

Kamrul Hasan: The ongoing digital transformation initiatives of the current government have reached a new milestone with the launch of the ‘Land Service Fair-2026’, aimed at delivering fast, easy, transparent, and technology-based land services to people at their doorsteps. Initiated by the Ministry of Land, this special service campaign has begun simultaneously across the country to ensure a hassle-free, accountable, and citizen-friendly land management system.

On Monday (May 19) morning, Prime Minister Tarek Rahman, MP, virtually inaugurated the nationwide ‘Land Service Fair-2026’.

During the inauguration, the Prime Minister emphasized ensuring the maximum use of technology in land administration to eliminate the long-standing sufferings of the people.

As part of the government’s vision of building a Smart Bangladesh, several digital services have already been introduced in the land sector, including online mutation applications, land development tax payments, and access to land records and mouza maps. Officials concerned stated that these initiatives have not only saved time and money for citizens but also reduced the influence of middlemen while increasing transparency in service delivery.

In continuation of these initiatives, the three-day ‘Land Service Fair-2026’ has started in Manikganj under the arrangement of the Manikganj district Administration and the Manikganj Sadar Upazila Land Office.

The inaugural ceremony at the district level was presided over by Manikganj
Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Nazmun Ara Sultana.

Among others present at the event were Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Mohammad Ali, Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Ops) Mohorom Ali, Manikganj Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mousumi Nasrin, and Assistant Commissioner (Land) Rikta Khatun.

Officials and employees from various government and non-government organizations, journalists from print and electronic media, service seekers, and people from different walks of life also attended the program.

At the fair, citizens are receiving instant land-related services, guidance on online application procedures, mutation and e-mutation services, verification of land records, land development tax payment assistance, and consultation for resolving various land-related complexities. The fair has already generated significant interest among the general public.

Deputy Commissioner Nazmun Ara Sultana stated that the fair has been organized as part of the government’s continuous efforts to modernize and make land management more citizen-friendly. She added that more services would gradually be brought under complete online systems so that citizens can receive necessary land services from their homes in the future.

Experts believe that the land sector had long been identified as one of the areas plagued by corruption, complexity, and public harassment.

However, due to the current government’s digital initiatives and administrative reforms, positive changes are becoming visible. Concerned officials believe that the ‘Land Service Fair-2026’ will serve as a practical reflection of that transformation.
