Diplomatic Correspondent: A delegation of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, led by its Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar, attended a reception hosted by the Singapore High Commission in Dhaka on Sunday evening to mark Singapore’s 61st National Day.

The reception was held at 6:30pm at the Sheraton Hotel in Banani, bringing together diplomats representing different countries in Bangladesh, political leaders, government and private-sector officials, and other distinguished guests.

During the event, Mia Golam Parwar handed over a congratulatory message on behalf of Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer and Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Dr Shafiqur Rahman to Singapore’s Acting High Commissioner to Bangladesh.

Mia Golam Parwar also met Singapore’s Acting High Commissioner Michelle Lee and conveyed greetings and congratulations to the government and people of Singapore on the country’s 61st National Day.

He wished peace, prosperity and well-being for the people of Singapore and expressed hope that the friendly relations between Bangladesh and Singapore would become stronger and more productive in the coming days.

Jamaat Assistant Secretary General Dr AHM Hamidur Rahman Azad and Ali Ahmad Mohammad Mabrur, a member of the Foreign Affairs Advisory Committee to the Leader of the Opposition, were also present at the reception.

Singapore celebrates its National Day on August 9 each year. In 2026, the country marked the 61st anniversary of its independence.
