Golam Mostafa, Tarash: There is no water or soap in the basins set up at the important corners of the municipal city to ensure public health awareness in Tarash of Sirajganj.

It is learned that in the first phase of Corona situation, people used to wash their hands with soap by placing plastic basins in several areas including Model Press Club Junction, Baroari Battala Junction, Bir Muktijoddha Sangsad Junction, Alep Junction and Health Complex Gate Junction.

It was seen on the spot that the basin of Bir Muktijoddha Sangsad Mor area was lying in the middle of the garbage on the side of the road of TarashDegreeCollege. The condition of other basins is also not good. No traces were found at the Tarash Health Complex junction and at the base of the Battala junction in the West Wapda Dam area.

Rafiqul Islam and Majnu Sarkar, local businessmen in the municipal area, said they used to wash their hands with soap in the basin three to four times a day during last year`s Corona. Other people used to come to the municipal town to wash their hands. But the basins are not being used after people`s first fear of corona has subsided. There is no water or soap in the basin.

In this regard, Tarash Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Municipal Administrator Md. Mejbaul Karim said, water and soap will be provided in the basins to ensure compliance of human hygiene in Corona situation.
