A woman reportedly committed suicide in Patuakhali`s Kalapara upazila on Monday night.

The dead was Jainab Bibi, 50, wife of Mojibor Molla, a resident of Pasharbunia village under Lalua union of the upazila.

According to police and locals, the woman, mother of three children, took poison at her house around 11 pm as her husband again got married to another woman.

Kalapara Police Station OC (Investigation) Mostafizur Rahman said police recovered the body on Tuesday morning and sent it to Patuakhali morgue for autopsy. The actual cause of death will be known after the autopsy report is released.

A case has been filed in this regard with the police station.
