A branch of Grameen Bank was set on fire by miscreants at Sherpur Upazila in Bogura, police said.

Sherpur Police Station Moin Uddin, Officer-in-Charge (OC) said the incident took place at Garidah Market area of the upazila, targeting Garidah branch of Grameen Bank.

Fortunately, the fire was extinguished within a short time and did not spread inside the bank.

According to the OC, a video obtained by the police shows a young man setting fire to the branch’s signboard using a long log, while another youth standing nearby records the incident on video.

“The fire burned out on its own after a few moments, preventing significant damage to the branch,” the OC said. He added that efforts are underway to identify the individuals involved and bring them to justice.
