6 reform commissions to submit progress reports to govt by 31 Dec

The six reform commissions are set to begin their works on 1 October and will submit their progress reports to the government by December 31, Law Affairs Adviser Asif Nazrul said on Thursday.

Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus held a meeting with the chiefs of the six reform commissions and five advisers of the interim government earlier in the day.

The Law Affairs Adviser was addressing a press conference after the meeting held at the Foreign Services Academy in Dhaka.

Earlier on 11 September, Muhammad Yunus while addressing the nation announced the formation of six reform commissions.

As per his announcement, Badiul Alam Majumdar has been made head of the Election Commission Reform Commission, Safar Raj Hossain of the Police Administration Reform Commission, Justice Shah Abu Naeem Mominur Rahman of the Judiciary Reform Commission, Dr Iftekharuzzaman of the Anti-Corruption Reform Commission, Abdul Mueed Chowdhury of the Public Administration Reform Commission and Dr Shahdeen Malik of the Constitution Reform Commission.

Later, Bangladeshi American political scientist Ali Riaz was made the chief of the Constitution Reform Commission replacing Shahdeen Malik.
