A Dhaka court today (September 20) placed Additional Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police Mashiur Rahman on seven-day remand in a case lodged over the killing of trader Abdul Wadud in capital`s New Market area during the recent anti-discrimination student movement.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Saddam Hossain passed the order as police produced Mashiur before the court and pleaded to place him on 10-day remand in the case.
Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested Mashiur Rahman from the city`s airport area on Thursday night.
Wadud was shot in front of New Market 1st gate on July 19. His relative Abdur Rahman filed the case with capital`s New Market Police Station on August 21 against 130 people, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina and Obaidul Quader.
