Army Chief Hopes for a Fair, Neutral Election by December
  Date : 10-07-2025

Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman has stated that the country is moving toward elections, emphasizing the importance of a fair and neutral process. "We had mentioned 18 months, and we expect to hold a well-organized election by December," he said.

Speaking at a photo exhibition at the RAOWA Club on National Martyred Soldiers Day, he reaffirmed his commitment to the nation. "Let me be clear—I have no personal ambitions. My only goal is to leave the country in a stable state and return to the cantonment."

Addressing concerns about law enforcement, he noted, "Many police personnel are not working as several of them are in jail. RAB and BGB are under pressure. Ensuring national security is not just the army’s responsibility—there is also the Ansar force. With only 30,000 army personnel, how can we handle everything?"

General Wakar-Uz-Zaman urged unity and warned against internal conflicts: "We must remain united for the sake of the country and the nation. Engaging in internal disputes will only threaten national sovereignty. I am issuing this warning now—no one should later say they were not cautioned."

He also called for an end to hostilities against the army: "I do not understand why some harbour resentment toward the army and its chief. Support us, advise us. We want unity and the ability to protect the nation."

Regarding the Pilkhana massacre, he remarked, "We lost 57 skilled soldiers. The legal proceedings of this case must not be disrupted. If external or political forces were involved, they must be identified. Attempts to manipulate this case will not bring any good."

Reaffirming discipline within the armed forces, he stated, "There will be zero tolerance for indiscipline. Let the disciplined forces remain disciplined. No matter what challenges the country faces, the army, navy, and air force will endure because of their commitment to order and structure."
