  Date : 13-05-2025

BSS) - Adviser for Road Transport and Bridges Ministry and Railways Ministry Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan today said all-out efforts will be taken to make the forthcoming Eid journey safe, hassle-free and enjoyable.

He said this while addressing a meeting on "Ensuring safety and convenience of common people on roads, highways, bridges and railways in view of upcoming holy Eid-ul-Azha celebration" held at the Bidyut Bhaban in the capital.

Fouzul said no additional fare can be collected from passengers during the Eid journey and if any complaint is found of collecting additional fare anywhere, immediate action will be taken against the act.

Representatives from government agencies will monitor the situation on the roads to prevent extortion, he said, adding that the sacrificial cattle market will be set up away from roads and highways to avoid traffic congestion.

The adviser said there will be bank booths at cattle markets for the financial security of traders arriving from different parts of the country.

To prevent unwanted accidents on the roads, there will be additional surveillance in accident-prone areas and necessary measures will be taken to ensure immediate primary health care, said Fouzul.

The movement of trucks and covered-vans on the roads will be stopped from June 4 to June 6, three days before Eid and from June 12 to June 14 (except for emergency services).

He sought cooperation from all concerned to prevent excessive fare collection, ticket manipulation and extortion to make this Eid journey safe and smooth.

LGRD and Cooperatives Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain, Chief Adviser`s Special Assistant on Home Affairs Ministry Khuda Baksh Chowdhury, Chief Adviser`s Special Assistant on Road Transport and Bridges Ministry Sheikh Moinuddin, leaders of the transport owners-workers association, and representatives of civil society were present in the meeting.
