2 killed, 8 injured in Cox`s Bazar road crash

Two people were killed and eight others injured when a passenger bus lost control and overturned at Chakaria upazila in Cox’s Bazar district on Friday morning.

The accident occurred along the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar highway at Goyalmara area under Harbang union, according to Md. Ariful Amin, Inspector of Chiringa Highway Police Station.

He said that the identities of the deceased and injured have not yet been confirmed.

Quoting locals, Inspector Amin said the Cox’s Bazar-bound Hanif Paribahan bus lost control near Goyalmara area, veered off the road and plunged into a roadside pond.

Two passengers died on the spot and eight others sustained injuries.

Locals rescued the victims and took them to Chakaria Upazila Health Complex.

Upon receiving news of the accident, a team from Chakaria Upazila Fire Service Station arrived at the scene and assisted in retrieving the vehicle from the waterbody, said the highway police inspector.Cultural event coverage

The police official added that efforts are underway to identify the victims and investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The bodies of the deceased are currently at Chakaria Upazila Health Complex, also added the police official.
