Two children drown in Thakurgaon pond

Two young cousins drowned in a pond at Baliadangi upazila of Thakurgaon district on Friday morning.

The incident occued at Chhota Lahiri village under Charol union of the upazila.

The deceased were identified as Siam Hossain, 6, son of Dabirul Islam and Sohan Ali, 7, son of Shafiul Islam, both residents of the same area.

Baliadangi Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Shawkat Ali Sarkar confirmed the matter.

According to locals, Siam and Sohan were students of a local madrasah. As the madrasah was closed on Friday, they were at home.

In the morning, they went out to play near the pond and accidentally drowned.

Later, family members recovered the bodies.

OC Shawkat Ali Sarkar said a police team was sent to the spot.
