3 family members suffer burn wounds in Jashore acid attack

A woman, her daughter and minor son sustained burn injuries in an acid attack at Godkhali Mathbari village in Jashore`s Jhikargachha upazila on Thursday night ( July 3).

Injured Rahela Khatun, 48, her daughter Ripa Khatun, 26, and minor son Yeanur, 8, are currently undergoing treatment at Jashore 250-Bed General Hospital.

Quoting locals, Jhikargachha Police Station OC Nur Mohammad Gazi said the accused Jasim, 35, a day-labour who works at a neighbouring house, had offered to marry Ripa several times, but was refused by the woman.


It made him angered. And he threatened Ripa to take revenge. Around 8:15PM on Thursday, he threw acid targeting them through window of their house, leaving the three injured.

Hearing cry for help, local residents rushed in and took them to Jashore General Hospital.

Police are trying to detain the accused, the OC added.
