Online Report : BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has stressed the importance of party unity, warning leaders and activists against using the party’s name for personal gain.
Speaking virtually at BNP’s triennial conference in Kishoreganj on Saturday, Tarique said, “At any cost, our leaders and activists must remain united. No one should exploit the party’s name for personal interests.”
He urged everyone to adhere to party decisions and remain vigilant against attempts to create internal divisions.
On reforms proposed by the caretaker government, he noted that 95% of their proposals were already part of BNP’s 31-point program.
Highlighting the need for democratic governance, he said, “To ensure political, voting, employment, women’s, educational, healthcare, farmer, and labor rights, a government based on public mandate is essential.”
Addressing the upcoming elections, he said, “February’s election is crucial. Every BNP worker and nationalist supporter must unite to secure a people-driven mandate. There is no alternative to solidarity.”
Tarique cautioned that even though dictatorship has ended, hidden forces still pose challenges, and activists must remain alert. “We must embody the ideals of Shaheed Zia and Begum Khaleda Zia and continue advancing democracy,” he said.
The conference, held after nine years, saw participation from 2,090 councilors representing 21 BNP units in the district. The event was inaugurated by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, with other central leaders in attendance.
