Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin on Saturday announced that the schedule for 13th National Parliamentary Election will be unveiled in the first week of December.
“The Election Commission is committed to ensuring a free, fair, and impartial election, overcoming all kinds of challenges,” the CEC told reporters after attending two separate meetings in Barishal — one with election officials at the Regional Election Office in the morning and another with police and administrative officials at the Barishal Circuit House in the afternoon.
Reaffirming the Commission’s resolve, Nasir Uddin said,“As per the oath I took upon assuming office, we are determined to deliver an exemplary election to the people of this country. I conveyed this to all concerned officials, and they have assured full cooperation to ensure a fair and impartial electoral process.”
Responding to questions, the CEC clarified that political parties currently banned from political activities will not be allowed to participate in the upcoming polls.
“The government has made it clear that such parties cannot join the polls until their legal proceedings are complete. This is not based on any suggestion from intelligence agencies or others — we will overcome all challenges and ensure a credible and inclusive election,” he said.
Addressing concerns about past polls, Nasir Uddin said, “There will be no repeat of elections like those held in previous times. We will deliver a vote that is acceptable to all.”
He also asserted that the Election Commission will not bow to any pressure or obstruction from any party or group, vowing to protect the integrity of the electoral process.
