One more dies of dengue, 715 hospitalised
  Date : 19-10-2025

One more person has died from dengue in the past 24 hours, raising the national death toll to 245 this year, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) confirmed on Sunday.

The fatality was reported in Barishal Division, outside the city corporation area.

During the same period, 950 individuals were admitted to hospitals with viral fever symptoms—715 of them diagnosed with dengue. This brings the total number of dengue cases in Bangladesh this year to 59,849.

Currently, 2,793 patients are undergoing treatment nationwide, including 977 in Dhaka, where hospitals continue to manage high patient inflows.

Of the newly confirmed cases, 61.3% are men and 38.7% are women.

For comparison, 575 people died from dengue in 2024, with 101,214 cases reported by this time last year. Of those, 100,040 have recovered.

With the monsoon season still influencing mosquito breeding, health authorities are urging heightened public awareness and preventive measures—such as eliminating stagnant water, using mosquito repellents, and installing nets—to curb further transmission.

The DGHS continues to monitor the situation closely as healthcare facilities remain on alert.
