Online Desk : Awami League has nominated former Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Pran Gopal Datta for by-election to Cumilla-7 constituency.

The decision was taken at the meeting of Awami League`s nomination board at Gababhaban on Saturday morning, the party Office Secretary Barrister Biplob Barua confirmed to Jago News.

Pran Gopal is now vice president of Cumilla North District Awami League.

The Election Commission declared the seat vacant after MP Prof Ali Ashraf passed away on July 30.

However, voting in the by-polls is scheduled to be held on October 7.
