BNP born undemocratically, but now talks about democracy: Hasan

Online desk : Foreign Minister and Awami League Joint General Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud on Wednesday said BNP was born undemocratically and the party is always try to destroy democracy.

But, it is very regretful that the party (BNP) is now talking about democracy, he said while exchanging views with reporters at YNT Centre in Chattogram, reports BSS.

The minister said Ziaur Rahman grabbed the state power from cantonment and formed his party BNP through distributing left over of power. Many top leaders of BNP including Dr Moin Khan and Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir joined the party after taking the left over, he said.


Dr Hasan said BNP has always tried to destroy the country’s democracy. Even, the party is still plotting conspiracy to destroy democracy, he said.


He said BNP carried out arson and petrol attacks and killed innocent killing people in 2013, 2014 and 2015.

About freeing of hostage sailors from the clutches of Somalian pirates, Hasan said there are many progresses to free both the hijacked Bangladeshi flagged ship MV Abdullah and its hostage sailors.

The minister hoped that the sailors will be freed from the clutches of Somalian pirates soon.

The government, he said, his trying to free both the hijacked ship MV Abdullah and its hostage sailors from the clutches of Somalian pirates soon. Discussions are going on through different media with Somalian pirates, he said.

Dr Hasan said the sailors are communicating with their families regularly and even they are talking with their near and dear ones through video call.

About the adolescent gangs, the AL leader said discussion over the gangs issue was held in the last cabinet meeting. The Prime Minister has directed the law enforcement agencies to take proper steps against them, he said.

Hasan said the premier asked the concerned authority to send the members of the adolescent gangs, popularly known as ‘Kishore Gang’, to rehabilitation centre instead of putting them in jail.
