BNP to hold nationwide rallies Monday
  Date : 20-11-2021

Online Report : BNP will hold rallies across the country on Monday demanding the immediate release of their ailing chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia for better treatment abroad.

The party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Saturday announced the programme after ending their hunger-strike programme in front of party’s Nayapaltan central office in Dhaka.

Fakhrul said their party’s all units of cities and district towns and upazilas will hold rallies on Monday. In the capital the programme will be held in front of the Jatiya Press Club at 10.00am, he added.

In the programme, Fakhrul said, “We’ll come up with the same demand in the rallies. If our demand is not met by the time, we’ll announce more programmes and free her and ensure her treatment abroad.”

As part of a countrywide programme, hundreds of leaders and activists of the party and its associate bodies began the hunger strike in front of their Nayapaltan central office at 9.00am, demanding Khaleda Zia be allowed to go abroad for advanced treatment.

Besides, leaders of BNP’s alliance partners of the Jatiya Oikyafront and the 20-party alliance partners also expressed solidarity with the party by joining the hunger strike programme.

The BNP leaders broke the hunger strike by sipping water offered by Dhaka University ex-Vice-chancellor Prof Anwar Ullah Chowdhury around 4.00pm.
