Anti Drug Society organises seminar in National Press Club
  Date : 27-04-2024

MT Desk: A seminar entitled "What to do to prevent drug menace" was held at Maulana Akram Khan Hall of the National Press Club on Wednesday 19 January at 10 am at the initiative of anti-drug organization ‘Anti-Drug Society’.

President of the Anti-Drug Society Ashrafur Rahman Farooq presided over the function while its General Secretary Zakir Hossain conducted the program. Dr. Jafrullah Chowdhury attended the program as chief guest.

The chief guest said in his speech that the biggest drug is cigarette. You have to stop smoking on the road. The government is capitalizing on revenue collection by approving cigarettes. Cigarette addiction gives birth to drugs. Cannabis is produced in our country; many times doctors recommend the use of partial cannabis to control asthma. Drugs are used to cure diseases in different countries of the world on the prescription of doctors but not sold without a doctor`s prescription. In our country, the people of the administration sell drugs in the name of controlling the government by talking about zero tolerance policy. DCs made 266 proposals at the DC conference. But the government does not ask anyone how many of you are engaged in smoking cigarettes . The government must come forward to make the country cigarette free or drug free. It is not possible to control drugs without stopping smoking on the streets.

He added that school-college textbooks needed to be detailed about the dangers of drugs. But at present, textbooks are full of praises of one person. In order to keep the next generation drug free, to keep the youth and the next generation drug free or to keep them free from drug addiction, first of all it is necessary to highlight the harmful aspects of drugs in the school-college textbooks.
