Mother-daughter among 3 die in Thakurgaon lightning

Three people, including a mother and daughter, were killed on Sunday in lightning strike at Ranishankail upazila in Thakurgaon.

The incident took place in the afternoon at Ushdhari village under Hosingaon union of the upazila.

The dead were Marina Begum, 45, wife of Syed Ali of that village, her daughter Sathi Akter, 14, Abdul Alim, son of Naushad Ali, of Jadurani Paschim College Para village under Haripur upazila.

Amgaon UP Chairman Habibur Rahman confirmed the matter.
Locals said around 12:30 pm, Marina and her daughter Sathi went to a paddy field to gather rice. They were returning home when it started raining. On the way, they were struck by a lightning and died on the spot.

Haripur Upazila`s Amgaon Union Chairman Habibur Rahman said Alim was working in a field in the afternoon. At the same time he died there due to lightning.
